Assistive technology for dyslexic using accelerometer based hand writing recognition and analog IVRS
This paper presents an assistive technology (named Anno Mate) for the aid of dyslexic. Anno Mate uses accelerometer based Hand Writing Recognition (HWR) and analog interactive voice response system (IVRS) for its working. It works in two modes, the Read Mode and the Write Mode. In the Read Mode, motion of the pen is detected by the accelerometer, the data collected by it is processed in microcontroller and further transmitted to the PC where an HWR algorithm classifies the data into a recognized alphabet of the English language. After recognition of the letter, the output in the form of its correct pronunciation is generated via the IVRS. In the Write Mode the accelerometer continuously monitors the motion of the pen and indicates through the IVRS if any motion is anomalous with regard to a particular letter. Hence the Anno Mate is an autonomous, real time and interactive guide which can prove as an aid for dyslexic while they write.
