A historical perspective of the BLS LAN, the rationale behind using XNS and 3Plus, the topology of the BLS internetwork, and its main design philosophy are discussed. A review of the LAN services that the BLS internetworks is given, with emphasis on the causes of partial disruptions and their effect on the primary services. The results show that increased reliance on PC and LAN platforms requires developers to regard bullet proofing as an ongoing priority. Debugging in a large complex internet requires both breadth and depth of knowledge.
