Sm3+ ions are commonly used as activating ions for orange-red light and are a suitable source for lighting and display devices. In this work, Sm3+ doped glass ceramics containing Ba3Gd(PO4)3 crystal phase have been prepared through melt crystallization method. Compared with the precursor glass sample, glass ceramics had higher luminescence intensity.
