Radiated emission test analyzes method to investigate SAR values
Innovation technology provides a new way of living including the use of mobile devices. Mobile devices are almost always present in the daily live of global communities now. These Information Technology Eqipments (ITE) products usually remain in ‘standby mode’ for the whole day. It is necessary to perform the electromagnetic fields testing to these ITE products in order to examine the electromagnetic field exposure to protect the safety of people. The measurements of electromagnetic field of several mobile devices has been done in Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) Chamber of BPPT (Indonesian Agency for the Assessment of Application of Technology) following the method of CISPR 22 (Information technology equipment — Radio disturbance characteristics-Limits and methods of measurement) [3] and IEEE Std C95.1™-2005 (IEEE Standard for Safety Levels with Respect to Human Exposure to Radio Frequency Electromagnetic Fields, 3 kHz to 300 GHz) [4] especially regarding their limits. This paper discussed a method to measure the electromagnetic field strengths for high frequency in 3m distance. We proposed a method to investigate whether a far field measurement values may be used to calculate the corresponding near field values. This method is proposed in order to investigate the SAR value in near field using the measured far field values following the CISPR 22 methods. Therefore CISPR 22 report of radiated emission for high frequency in 3 m distance measurements may be used to calculate the predicted Specific Absorption Rate (SAR) values in the distance of 30cm from the mobile device.
