In order to accomplish this task at fi rst we turn to philosophical background of communication, paying a special attention Soren Kierkegaard’s media criticism. The second chapter of the article is devoted to the explication of the basic notions of social media studies, emphasizing such concepts as new media, new new media, and network society.
