However, we want to have a new handheld terminal which is easier to use than current handheld device and to improve the performance of the terminal. This research tries to propose an embedded distributed remote monitoring system. In particular, the paper focuses on the design and realization of the embedded handheld data acquisition terminal, namely the distributed remote monitoring system's lower computer terminal. The hardware architecture and circuit of the handheld data acquisition terminal are revealed in detail. Then, the cross-compiler environment and HMI application program for graphical user interface based on Qt/Embedded are established and developed successfully. At last, the result of experimental test proves that the handheld terminal can be working stably and continuously.
