Chrisnawati","doi":"10.1063/1.5139775","DOIUrl":null,"url":null,"abstract":"This study aims to improve understanding of concepts and students’ activities of class VII D Junior High School 5 Surakarta in mathematics learning materials by applying a model set of discovery learning with recitation. This study uses pre and post-test research and held for pre-cycle and two cycles after then. Methods of data collection are done through observation, documentation, and test. The data analysis technique used is the analysis of the data on the observation of teaching and learning, comprehension test data analysis concepts, and data analysis activities of the students. The results of the study, the first implementation approach discovery model of learning with a recitation can enhance the understanding of concepts and students’ activities of class VII D Junior High School 5 Surakarta. Both the increased understanding concept learners at 35.48% pre-cycle in high category, in the first cycle there is a 54.84% gain high category, and the second cycle there is a 90.32% gain understanding of the concept of high category. While the students activities namely: 1) visual activities on pre-cycle 28.22%, the first cycle to 44.35%, the second cycle into 80.24%, 2) oral activities in pre-cycle 32.25%, the first cycle to 45, 97%, the second cycle to 72.98%, 3) listening activities on pre-cycle 32.45%, the first cycle to 49.60%, 75.40% the second cycle, and 4) the motor activities in pre-cycle 60.48%, first cycle became 73.39%, the second cycle into 86.29%.This study aims to improve understanding of concepts and students’ activities of class VII D Junior High School 5 Surakarta in mathematics learning materials by applying a model set of discovery learning with recitation.
