Um marco no ensino secundário do estado da Paraíba: o Colégio Estadual de Campina Grande (1948-1953)
This article aims to discuss the creation and aspects of the implantation of the State School of Campina Grande-PB, a landmark in the history of secondary education in Paraiba, during the Republic. As for the time frame, we focus on the period from 1948 to 1953.The year of 1948 was officially proposed for the construction of the school, and the year of 1953, for being the moment that the educational establishment was opened and started to operate in its own building. Methodologically, we performed bibliographical research and documentary analysis. The main references were: Bourdieu (1996), Le Goff (1996), Saviani (2007), Sanfelice (2007) and others. As for the sources, we work with newspapers, yearbooks, presidential messages; messages from governors; books of memorialists. In general terms, we highlight that this achievement in the city of Campina Grande was a great one that began in the interior area of Paraiba, the operation of a quality secondary public institution. With regard to its implementation, we consider three evidences that motivated this establishment, namely: the educational policy of expansion of public secondary education; the population demand of Campina Grande; and the expansion of primary education in Paraiba and, specifically, in Campina Grande.
