Engines supporting the subject-oriented paradigm

Subject-orientation is taken as the starting point for the development of concepts for the division of labor and for work contents described by referring to business objects. This is used as the basis for developing an alternative concept for workflow engines. We describe two related kinds of engines, which also complement one another: a Subject Communication Engine and a Subject Task Execution Engine. These engines focus on the acting subjects. Interactions between these engines are based on business objects and action items, which results in a high degree of flexibility, providing stronger support for the employees' personal engagement at the same time.
