Cultural Parks in the Spatial Planning System in Poland

In this article, the authors undertook research into Cultural Parks from the point of view of the spatial planning system requirements, and the monument protection system in Poland. An analysis of the provisions of legal acts has been carried out, and legal requirements in this area have been identified. As at December 31, 2017, 33 Cultural Parks have been established in Poland. All of these objects have been analysed in terms of their compliance with the requirements for the adoption of local spatial management plan. Using databases of spatial objects, and with several GIS tools, an analysis of the spatial distribution of Cultural Parks in the provinces and throughout Poland was also carried out. The conclusions from the conducted research indicated a large diversity in terms of meeting statutory requirements, both in terms of adopting plans and their provisions regarding Cultural Parks.
