Higher throughput helps users to save time in downloading or uploading their data and also enables them to use applications and services requiring higher data speeds like online gaming and video streaming. Evidence from existing operators shows that when subscribers experience higher throughput, their data usage increases which provide a recurring revenue boost. In addition to enhancing user experience and revenue, network operators make the most efficient usage of their spectrum and infrastructure investments. In this paper, we present practical methods for increasing the throughput in LTE networks. These methods are mostly based on the exploitation of resource management techniques and available optimization schemes.
