Modular video electronic assemblies for solid state image sensors
Today's solid state imaging sensors require complex timing circuitry to drive them and equally complex circuitry to optimize the output signal. To complicate matters, not only does each sensor technology require different handling, but each sensor is unique. This puts the company who wishes to manufacture a camera at a disadvantage since each camera design which they enter into requires a major expenditure in development time which varies depending upon the intensity of the design. The module concept was created to provide imaging users with a method of achieving good imaging performance without the design time or expense. This paper discusses the design philosophy and performance of a monochrome module and the new color imaging module released in April 1989 by Philips.<>
