The constant need of electrical drive trains and therefore electrical machines requires the selection of the right electrical machine regarding the application requirements. Within this work, the different machine types are briefly opposed to each other regarding their disadvantages and advantages. Then, existent machines of those types are compared based on power density (volume, weight) and efficiency.
