Automatic Guided Vehicle (AGV) Design Using an IoT-based RFID for Location Determination
The emergence of the fourth industrial revolution or better known as IR4.0 requires the industry to be capable of adapting new technologies. Autonomous robot and Internet of things (IoTs), which are among of the pillars of IR4.0, have been gradually implemented in industries in many forms including Automatic Guided Vehicle (AGV). AGV and IoT are the focus of this research in which the AGV is integrated with line-follower and RFID for localization in an industrial environment. The AGV, that moves along a line, has the ability to read predetermined locations using RFID tags. The location data will be sent from the AGV to a server computer using IoT, which makes data transmission easier. Data sent by the robot will be received by the server computer and displayed on the computer monitor. As the movement of the robot is fully controlled by the server computer, it is expected that the outcomes of this research will have a significant impact on the application of AGV and IoT in the era of Industrial 4.0.
