The proposed method for increasing catch volumes was based on \na program of using LEDs with white, green and blue light and monitoring the reaction of the caught aquatic organisms developed by Japanese scientists. In the practice of Russian commercial fishing there are no data found on the response of aquatic organisms to the spectrum and the effectiveness of using white LEDs that were made on the basis \nof ultraviolet LEDs. There has been given the review of works investigating the reaction to the light spectrum of various hydrobionts living in different ecological niches. It has been found that all hydrobionts under study (herring, pollock, saury, etc.) actively react to the blue spectrum of color, which makes it possible to use blue LEDs as light sources in commercial fishing. Experiments were carried out in Peter the Great Bay (Primorsky Krai, Russia) using \na submersible lamp with four blue LEDs. Hydrobionts living in different ecological niches (flounder and Pacific squid) were selected as the objects of study. The flounder has never been fished with light, and Pacific squid is traditionally caught by using light.
