Prolonged exposure to carcinogens may lead to the unregulaon of tumor suppressor genes and oncogenes, epigenec and cytogenec alteraons, and mutaons in mitochondria. Angiogenesis is crical for tumor progression, as tumor cell growth frequently outstrips the supply of O and nutrients. Demonstraon of angiogenesis in tumor stroma can be 2 carried out by IHC using anbodies CD105. Thus, the present study aims at assessing the expression of CD105 in oral squamous cell carcinoma. Material and Methods : The study comprised of 60 histopathologically diagnosed and surgically operated cases of OSCC of various histopathological grades from the departmental archives. The paraffin embedded ssue secon of 4μm was obtained from archival ssues of OSCC (Group 1) and normal oral mucosa (Group 2) which were stained for roune Hematoxylin and Eosin and for the expression of CD 105 by immunohistochemistry for the determinaon of micro vessel density. Observaons & Results: We observed significantly increased MVD in poorly differenated OSCC in comparison to moderately differenated OSCC and well differenated OSCC. However, when comparison was made between the well and moderately differenated OSCC, the difference was stascally nonsignificant.
