Drones and Privacy-Related Issues/Concerns: Alice in Techno-Land
The paper examines the emerging technology of drones in their various forms and the difficulties posed by the regulation of this technology, in several jurisdictions, in particular in the United States of America and the European Union. The author begins by addressing the terminological difficulty in designating unmanned aircraft of different descriptions. He goes on to present the safety and operational rules instituted for these vehicles as well as the myriad of potential problems posed to privacy and security by this new technology. He concludes that a unified approach to the definition and regulation of such aircraft is necessary as current regulations lack the required level of cohesion to manage the safe application of this technology, especially when it comes to the defence of privacy rights.
