Mexican standard for interoperability of learning objects environments
The proposal of the Mexican standard for interoperability is intended to support higher education institutions on implementing inter-institutional collaboration schemes through interoperability of software systems aimed to store and display learning objects. The proposal consists of four volumes: Volume 1. Theoretical Framework for Interoperability of Learning Objects Environments, Volume 2. Determination of the Ability to Inter-operate (What am I doing?), Volume 3. mLOM-ReMIAM/SINED, Metadata Application Profile for Labelling Mobile Learning Objects, and Volume 4. An International Analysis of the Extensions to the IEEE LOMv1.0 Metadata Standard. Although the Mexican standard was defined from best practices implemented by Mexican educational institutions regarding learning objects operation, we consider that its adoption potential among Latin American institutions is very high. This consideration is made taking into account that the Mexican culture and the Latinoamerican ones share several aspects besides the standard is written in the Spanish language.
