Telephone Psychological Attention Service of the Madrid College of Psychology and the Comunidad de Madrid during the COVID-19 quarantine period in Spain. An empirical study
As a result of the situation generated by COVID-19 in Spain, and the quarantine period declared with the state of alarm, our research group set out to deter- mine whether the difference in intervention time of the psychology professionals who attended affected individuals in the Community of Madrid, was significantly higher according to gender. To support this initiative, a comprehensive literature review was carried out based on the most prominent conceptual elements. The data was obtained from the psychological helpline telephone service, set up by the Official College of Psychology of Madrid. Following a quasi-experimental approach with two samples Nfemale = 50 and Nmale = 50, obtained randomly from a total sample of 597 psychologists intervening in the service, with specific training and experience in emergency situations and disasters, a hypothesis contrast was carried out, the result of which was the acceptance of the initial idea that the female intervening psychologists obtained longer mean intervention times than their male colleagues.
