A CONCEPT OF THE AIR DRAG LAW FOR SPHERICAL FRAGMENTS PREPARED ON THE BASIS OF AASTP-1 ALLIED PUBLICATION DATA
A concept of the air drag law for spherical fragments (balls) is presented in the paper on the base of a set of discrete values of the air drag coefficients included in the AASTP-1 [1] document – an allied publication on the principles for storage of ammunition and explosive materials. The proposal is aimed to increase the reliability of calculations for different expert investigations concerning possible impacts of enforced fragmentation ammunition with spherical fragments into the objects. The proposed method may be used at designing stages or at the reverse engineering for assessing potential threats caused by unknown types of the ordnance. It may be also useful at external ballistic calculations for pellet ammunition (hunting and police) and moreover for the tank canister shells. Anyway the common access to computers is an encouragement for leaving apart the methods which assume a constant value of the aerodynamical drag coefficient.
