Disaster early warning using time-critical IoT on elastic cloud workbench
The main role of an early warning system is to enable people and authorities to save lives and goods when a disaster occurs. For example, in case of floods, a warning released with enough time before the event will allow the reservoir workers to boil down water levels gradually, hospitals to be prepared to receive a large number of patients, people to fortify their homes and last, but not least, authorities to provide help. The paper proposes a software workbench for time critical, interactive and self-adaptive cloud applications for disaster early warning using IoT, including live event broadcasting, and collaborative communication. Taking this into account, this paper presents the overall functional description and architecture of the developed use-case called “Disaster Early Warning using Time-Critical IoT on Elastic Cloud Workbench”, with the main goal of developing a national data repository with monitored data, information and good practices which are widely applied in disaster management.
