Ontheotherhand,bothacademicsandpractitionersareawareofthedisruptiveeffectsofsharing economyone.g.,localrealestateandlabormarkets.Thisqualitativestudyisbasedonempirical datafromamunicipalityontheLofotenIslandsofNorway.TheresultsdemonstratethatAirbnbhas somepositiveandsomenegativeeffectsonruraldevelopment,butthemagnitudesoftheseeffects are modest. Of positive effects, the authors can mention increased local tourism, stimulation of conservation/restorationoftraditionalhouses,andincreasedrecreationalmobilityforruralresidents.
