Resumo: Procuramos com a presente leitura em torno de Paisagem com Mulher e Mar ao Fundo, de Teolinda Gersão (TG), demonstrar que se trata de um romance onde a História e a Ficção se fundem através das vivências das personagens, envolvendo um período marcado pela ditadura salazarista, que acaba por arrastar o país para a guerra colonial, compondo um tempo de perseguições, fugas, exílios e vítimas, mas que depois veio a contemplar os preparativos e a consumação libertadora da Revolução dos Cravos. A elasticidade do romance abre ainda espaço à problemática da identidade que ganha maior relevância no pós 25 de Abril, a certos aspetos culturais marcantes traduzidos em vivências quotidianas, festividades, tradições, crenças, superstições, etc., bem como a uma reflexão mais filosófica, mais metafísica se quisermos, buscando-se, em determinadas passagens, certa interpretação do mundo, trazendo à colação tópicos dignos de nota, como a vida, o amor, a pintura, a arquitetura, a música, o tempo, o mar, mas também o envelhecimento, a depressão, o suicídio, a morte, tudo isto envolto em polifonias várias (pintura, cinema, música) e apresentado de forma recortada, fragmentada, espelho e reflexo da mente de Hortense, a personagem principal.Palavras-chave: Teolinda Gersão; mulher; mar; morte; liberdade.Abstract: With this reading of Teolinda Gersão’s Paisagem com Mulher e Mar ao Fundo, we seek to demonstrate that it is a novel where History and Fiction merge through the experiences of the characters, involving a period marked by the Salazar dictatorship, which ends up dragging the country into the Colonial War, composing a time of persecution, flight, exile and victims, but which later came to contemplate the preparations and the liberating consummation of the Carnation Revolution. The elasticity of the novel also have a place for the issue of identity that gains greater relevance after the 25th of April, to certain striking cultural aspects translated into everyday experiences, festivities, traditions, beliefs, superstitions, etc., as well as to a more philosophical reflection, more metaphysical, if we want, seeking, in certain passages, a certain interpretation of the world, bringing to the collation topics worthy of note, such as life, love, painting, architecture, music, time, the sea, but also aging, depression, suicide, death, all of this wrapped in various polyphonies (painting, cinema, music) and presented in a cut-out, fragmented, mirror and reflection of the mind of Hortense, the main character.Keywords: Teolinda Gersão; Woman; Sea; Death; Freedom.
