The transient response can be improved by means of feedback control method. In this paper a hardware implementation of SMPS power stage using half-bridge converter, employing positive voltage injection switching inductor (P-VISI) feedback control method for step-up load transient condition will be discussed. The half-bridge converter has been tested using voltage mode control (VMC) and P-VISI. It is found that the P-VISI helps the SMPS for a faster transient response compared to the VMC. Detailed explanations of the P-VISI method and experimental results are presented in this paper.
