Impacts of Converting Overhead Distribution Network of 132/11.5 kV Qasimabad Grid Station Into Underground Distribution Network
In this research paper a load flow model of an existing overhead network of 132/11.5 kV at Qasimabad grid station has been developed through Electrical transient analyzer program (ETAP). Through the simulations, current distribution losses and voltage regulation have been computed. Then an efficient model has been developed through ETAP in which current overhead 11.5kV distribution feeders are replaced by 11.5kV underground distribution feeders. In underground power distribution network, aluminum conductor steel reinforced (ACSR) overhead lines are replaced by cross linked polyethylene (non mag) cables keeping other all parameters same. Then effects of underground cables on 132/11.5 kV at Qasimabd grid station is determined. Results shows that if current power distribution network of the grid is converted into underground power network active distribution power losses can be reduced about 71.53% and reactive distribution power losses can be reduced about 74.91 %. Likewise, voltage drop in the lines can also be reduced at greater extent.
