Study of the Crime Space Based on Analyzing Criminogenic Factors for Crime Prevention

The purpose of this study is to organize criminal information from the viewpoint of CPTED, and to demonstrate criminogenic characteristic through the analysis of relationship between snatch crime and urban structure at Hitachi-city, in lbaraki-prefecture. Followings are the main findings of this study. First, occurrence of snatch is influenced by household density, population density, financial institution, railway stations, and police stations. Second, the criminals value the existence of vacant land and side walk on the street. Finally, snatch types are classified into four categories that correlate to four different urban structures in using cluster analysis.
