PSYCHOSOMATIC UNITY OF THE HUMAN BODY IN THE MEDICINE OF GALEN AS EXEMPLIFIED IN THE TREATISE “DE PLACITIS HIPPOCRATIS ET PLATONIS”

В работе рассмотрено одно из основных положений медицинских взглядов Галена, касающееся восприятия человеческого организма как единого целого. Трактат «Об учениях Гиппократа и Платона» подтверждает, что общее представление о физиологии человеческого тела и принципах общей патологии, развиваемое Галеном, основано на понимании им человеческого организма как единства духовного и телесного. По мнению Галена, в учениях Гиппократа и Платона содержатся эпистемологические основы верного понимания медицины, которые он умело соединяет в своей теоретико-практической системе (от подходов к анатомо-физиологическому устройству до теории общей патологии и психосоматического единства организма человека). The article reviews one of the basic concepts of Galen’s understanding of medicine that concerns his perception of the human body as a whole. His treatise “De Placitis Hippocratis et Platonis” is representative of the fact that the general idea of human body physiology explored by Galen is based on his perception of the human body as a unity of the spiritual and the corporeal. According to Galen, the doctrines of Hippocrates and Plato encapsulate the epistemological framework of the proper understanding of medicine, and he successfully integrates its elements in his theory and practice (which vary from the approaches to physiology and anatomy to the theory of general pathology and psychosomatic unity of the human body).
