Slot allocation schemes for voice and data services in a radio-mobile packet access system
For third generation cellular communication systems, packet reservation multiple access (PRMA) attracts considerable attention. In recent studies, derivatives of this protocol type have been proposed and evaluated. In these protocols, the slots are allocated centrally by the base station. This work concentrates on the multiplexing of voice and data for such centralised allocation schemes. We propose a multiple slot allocation scheme with segmentation for data. Thanks to this scheme, the data transmission delay is reduced while the speech clipping is kept to an acceptable level. By means of computer simulations, we study the performance of the system. The influence of different parameters of the multiple slot allocation scheme on the speech clipping and the mean delay for data is evaluated.
