C-Thru: The intelligent device for autonomous visually impaired individuals
A thorough survey of the literature and existing work together with in-depth real world investigations revealed the current major requirements sought by visually impaired individuals. This manuscript revolves around the design and the implementation of C-Thru; an electronic intelligent device that has the objective of facilitating the daily activities of visually impaired individuals; hence, allowing them to become more autonomous and independent. In particular, as a first step, the current design targets the mobility of people with such disabilities. This manuscript encloses a detailed engineering design approach that will allow for the realization of a preliminary prototype of C-Thru that will constitute the basis for further future developments and evolution through augmenting the device with additional intelligence and functionalities.
