Moreover, autophagy and the renin-angiotensin physiological system play a pivotal role in metabolic syndrome, a disease that can disrupt homeostasis in different organs, including adipose tissue. The crosstalk in adipose tissue maintains low inflammation, brown adipocytes, and autophagic machinery under control.
