The article provides an assessment of the existing methodological approaches to the thermal calculation of non-insulated overhead line conductors in terms of determining the current at the maximum permissible value of the conductor temperature. The use of a particular approach currently depends solely on the preferences of a particular specialist. The long-term permissible current includes a large number of parameters of the mathematical model. The article proposes an updated model of the long-term permissible current of overhead lines.
