HJ. SYAMSIAH ABBAS TOKOH AGAMA DAN PENDIDIKAN PEREMPUAN MINANGKABAU

This article contains the gait and the role of Hj. Syamsiyah Abbas in the fields of religion, education, social live, and politic. Hj.  Syamsiyah Abbas is a female character whose name is not famous among the people in West Sumatera. However, during his lifetime, she never played a considerable role, ranging from establishing institutions education, take care of socio-religious organization, and take part in politics. Although she lived in the Perti, a socio-religious community, but she was not an exclusive and isolated from various things. In fact, she proved that a woman among Perti was able to break through the things that have been "taboo", such as managing the school or joing into politics.
