Aansluiten bij het referentiekader van ouders van kinderen met ASS op zorg
Parents of children with autism are oft en heavily charged with their child’s care. The cooperation with parents is an important factor in the parents’ satisfaction with the care process. The role that the personal frame of reference of parents can play in the way in which the social worker can best fit in was explored. This personal frame of reference has been operationalized in this research in the form of expectations (practical, critical or existential) and decision preferences (delegating or autonomous). The profiles drawn up on this basis can serve as guidelines in counselling parents. In the results section, the profiles are applied to various case descriptions and a description is given of what the parents think is needed from the counsellor. The conclusion of the study is that it is useful to divide parents into these profiles. It is recommended that an instrument be developed that allows the social worker to discuss the personal frame of reference of parents and provides tools to connect to it.
