Visual saliency-aware radio resource allocation for image transmission in SC-FDMA systems
Wireless multimedia applications attract tremendous research and commercial attentions in recent years. Since wireless transmission is inherently error-prone, errors may occur in the regions of visual interest. The user experience and perceived quality may be unsatisfactory due to the errors. In this paper, we propose a visual saliency-aware radio resource allocation (VSA) scheme for image transmission in single carrier frequency division multiple access (SC-FDMA) system, which provides better quality of visual perception in wireless environments. The VSA schemes are designed to protect regions of interest so that the quality of visually salient information can be enhanced. Simulation results show that our scheme achieves effective improvements of quality in the region of interest in the image.
