The diseases that are often found in the elderly are degenerative diseases such as hypertension. The treatment of elderly people with hypertension generally uses pharmacological intervention. However, long-term pharmacological interventions may lead to drug dependence, insomnia, and dry cough. Therefore, it is suggested that alternative non-pharmacological interventions given to the elderly to lower blood pressure levels with foot and back massage. This study aimed to determine the effect of foot and back massage on blood pressure in elderly at Panti Wredha Surakarta. The object of this research is the hypertension elderly living in Panti Wredha Surakarta with a total sample of 30 respondents. The research design used quantitative with pre and post test with control. Analysis of data to determine correlation in this research using Paired Samples T-Test. The value of Paired Samples T-Test obtained (p-value) of 0.001 so that (p-value) is greater than 0,05. In the pre intervention group (pre score) most of the blood pressure levels of hypertension stage 2 and after (post score) were mostly prehypertensive blood pressure level. There was a difference in blood pressure levels in groups before and after foot and back massage at Panti Wredha Surakarta.
