Few studies at home and abroad have evaluated computational thinking based on text programming, which lacks a scientific and reasonable index system. This paper analyzes the elements of computational thinking ability from text programming. Through literature analysis, it constructs a computational thinking evaluation index system including three first-level and nine second-level indicators. In order to verify the rationality of the index system, the paper collects 465 questionnaires for data analysis. The results show that the evaluation index system is scientific and reasonable, which can be used to evaluate learners’ computational thinking ability. Research leads to the following conclusions: the construction of the evaluation index system of computational thinking should depend on specific scenes. Computational design is the core of computational thinking ability.
