Determination of Delay Parameters in 4G LTE Cellular Mobile Networks
The growing interest in using mobile cellular networks to control and monitor ground and air transport poses the challenge of quantifying the delays in a selected cellular operator network against delay requirements. A simple approach is needed both to the evaluation of experimentally obtained delay values, their description and, consequently, modeling. The purpose of this article is to propose a simple method for describing delays in an 4G LTE cell, as well as to evaluate the resulting errors in estimating the average and maximum delays, as well as jitter. The paper is focused on delays considering “sufficient” quality of a radio signal. The quality of mobile cellular network coverage is out of the scope of this paper and in a particular area should be assessed separately.
