Especially in the Second Constitutional Period, besides the newspapers, the number of which increased considerably, there was also a serious development in the humor press. While the publication life of some of these newspapers and magazines continued for a short time, some of them continued their activities for a long time. In these newspapers and magazines published with the theme of humor, the political, social, cultural etc. of the state Although there are criticisms on many subjects, the subject of education has also been one of the subjects that are satirized. Examples of humor in the field of maarif, focusing on issues such as students, tests, maarif bureaucracy, merit, personnel regulations and Darulfunun, one of the most important educational institutions of the period, are important for educational policies of the period, reflections of these policies and understanding the problems in the field of educational education. Because besides the funny side of humor, its thought-provoking feature has been evaluated as an important tool in expressing the problems in question. In this study, educational humor and criticisms were evaluated based on the prominent examples in the Ottoman humor press since the end of the 19th century. As a result of the study, it was seen that the problems encountered in the educational life of the period were handled with important determinations in the humor press. From this point of view, it is understood that the humor press is a powerful instrument in conveying the problems experienced in the field of education to the public. In this context, the harmful habits of children, the fact that having a diploma cannot be considered as a measure of merit and student demands are remarkable examples of humor.
