Technology-enhanced workshop on grammar and punctuation

A structuralist approach to teaching grammar stresses the concrete, observable features that make up the signaling system of language-things like word order, inflection, and the use of function words. Structural grammar attempts to develop the student's sentence sense by studying the most common sentence patterns. The six basic sentence patterns can be combined to create compound, complex, or compound-complex sentences. In this workshop, you will be provided with exercises and the breakdown process for analyzing sentences and be given a chance to experiment with the online tutorials for the structuralist approach to grammar, punctuation, and style. The purpose of this workshop is three-fold: to introduce you to a structuralist approach to grammar and punctuation, to provide you with an opportunity to experiment with this approach, and to solicit your feedback for the usefulness of this approach for editors and new technical communicators.
