As the fruit generates ethanol, the odor that comes from it can be used as a source of information to determine its ripeness. Using the MQ3 sensor, Arduino, and Fuzzy Logic with Mathlab, the researchers will attempt to determine the fruit’s ripeness without having to break open the fruit. It has been observed that the cantaloupe releases enough ethanol to be detected by the electronic nose.
