The Anglo-Saxon and continental models of the involvement of scientific experts in the process are evaluated in world practice and on this basis the relevant provisions of domestic legislation are analyzed. Problems of a criminal procedural nature that arose after the introduction of the figure of a specialist and such type of evidence as “conclusion and testimony of a specialist” are revealed.
