Dielectric behavior and structure of gases, liquids, and solids

Investigations of fundamental dielectric properties of atoms, molecules, and ions in the gaseous, liquid, and solid states constitute a major portion of the literature on dielectrics. This chapter is concerned with basic dielectric phenomena. Papers that are more appropriately discussed under the titles of other chapters have been omitted.
