One of the challenges of accepting the operation of any complex dynamic system is the ability to make Decisions so the system runs efficiently and cost effectively. A short but useful historical overview of decision support systems (DSS) is given. The need for new conceptual and advanced models for addressing the challenging issues of CDS is provided. Fuzzy Cognitive Maps (FCMs) as a new modelling approach is briefly described.
