Organic and non-organic recyclable waste, which is a large part of the municipal solid waste generated, has caused increasing environmental concerns. The process of recycle is crucial for environmental sustainability. According to estimations from the United States Environmental Protection Agency, around 75 percent of the total waste can be recycled; and we only recycle 25 percent. The rest of the non-recycled waste is land filled and incinerated. By implementing new and novel recycling techniques, we can increase the recycling percentage and preserve natural resources and reuse the byproduct as industrial materials. The present paper presents an inexpensive yet reliable Smart Recycle Bin that based on modern technologies, such as environmental sensors and the LoRaWAn protocol to assist with the recycle process and automate the waste classification process.
