At zero crossing, the devices are switched on and switched off in each half cycle at the desired moment. Unlike traditional phase angle control (PAC) systems, the drive can work in the whole controllable range of speed and torque in this scheme. The phase angle control approach is switched naturally where force is commutated as EAC. In this strategy, the additional benefit is that the supply current from the AC source is leading. The power electronic system triggering technique is opposite to that of the regulation of the firing angle.
