Priorities of hydropower development in Ukraine are highlighted, among them the important role is assigned to small hydroelectric power plants in providing power reserve of power systems. In order to determine the optimal distribution of small hydroelectric power plants power in order to cover the requirements of the power system load, the forecasting of electric power system load with the use of a multi-layered artificial neural network was fulfilled.
