Reconfiguraciones regionales en el Istmo veracruzano, 1930-2020

Recepción: 16 de septiembre de 2021     Aceptación: 12 de octubre de 2021Resumen:A partir de un estudio etnográfico en la Sierra de Santa Marta, Veracruz, en este artículo se reflexiona en torno a las transformaciones ocurridas en la organización regional del Istmo veracruzano a lo largo de casi un siglo. El hilo conductor del análisis es la circulación de mercancías y de personas, mostrando dos patrones de organización: uno centrado principalmente en las interacciones al interior del propio Istmo, y otro que tiene como rasgo central la vinculación entre espacios discontinuos, mediante la cual la Sierra y sus pobladores han quedado estrechamente unidos a los mercados laborales de la frontera norte de México, los campos agrícolas del noroeste de México y los Estados Unidos.Palabras clave: Organización regional, intercambios comerciales, mercados laborales.The Regional Reconfigurations of the Veracruz Isthmus, 1930-2020Abstract:Building on ethnographic research in Sierra de Santa Marta, Veracruz, this article reflects on the transformations of the veracruzano Isthmus’s regional organization over almost a century. The axis of the analysis is the movement of goods and people, illustrating two organizational patterns: one mainly focused in the interactions within the isthmus, and the other whose central feature is the link between discontinuous spaces via which the Sierra and its inhabitants have remained closely tied to the labor markets of Mexico’s northern border, the agricultural fields of northwestern Mexico and the United States. Key words: Regional organization, commercial exchange, labor markets.
