Indeed, wise irrigation practices are urgently required to overcome the increasing shortage of water resources due to the impact of climate change and the competition for water resources with other activities. With the aim of moving from traditional water management to advanced precision irrigation, we designed the Agricolus® platform. Here, we describe the approach used in building the platform, which integrates a set of different IT tools: sensors, farm management system, mathematical models, remotely sensed indices and decision support system.
