Harmonic Distortion of RC-Filters Based on Memristors
The main characteristics of filters as signal processing devices depend on a large number of errors, the list of which also includes harmonic distortions. This article discusses five types of passive RC-filters on memristors, namely, first and second order low-pass filters (LPF), first and second order high-pass filters (HPF), and band-pass filters (BPF). Attention is drawn to the fact that a memristor becomes a linear element only when the frequency of the processed signal is higher than a certain value. The obtained results of modeling the total harmonic distortions of the types of filters selected above made it possible to obtain a quantitative estimate of the distortions and give a comparative characteristic of the considered filters based on memristors. It is concluded that the use of memristors in the structure of LPFs is inexpedient. As a result of the simulation, it is shown that the total harmonic distortions of HPF and BPF are in the range of a few percent, which can be acceptable for systems that do not impose high requirements on the errors of the filters included in them.
