Designing of Smart Net Energy Meter with Multi-Mode Tariff Computations for the Diverse Energy Prosumers in Pakistan
With the escalation of smart grid technologies and decentralized energy generation systems, diverse sectors (domestic and commercial) renewable energy generation (REG) prosumers have proliferated to become intrinsic to modish energy grids and are expected to play a pivotal role for the cognizance of net-zero energy buildings to overcome the ever-escalating power demand. The integration of REG systems into the utility grid demands a medium of smart devices to execute net energy metering operations. Hence, we propose one such cost-effective smart net-metering device with multi-mode tariff computations for the diverse energy consumers in Pakistan with in-built wireless bi-directional communication features based on Internet of Things (IoT) technology. A designed net energy metering system uses three tariff computation models for two different REG prosumers integrated with utility grids. To develop and simulate the efficiency of this net energy metering system and the supervision algorithm, the Blynk app Super Chart widget and MATLAB software were used.
